Vegas Franklin says his weekend visit to LSU was a positive
experience.
"It was real good. I was real impressed by
everything," he said. "I'd rate it about a 9. It was straight."
Franklin (6-3, 220, 4.6), a member of the Rivals.com
Southeast
Top 100 team and the No. 10 weakside defensive end in the
nation, was hosted by linebacker Cameron Vaughn.
"He's from Shaw, so we had that New Orleans bond,"
Franklin said. "We had a great time just hanging out with the fellas,
touring the facilities and going to the basketball game. I felt real
comfortable there. They've got good support for their players, both for
football and academics."
Franklin also has visits scheduled for the rest of
his top five: Oklahoma (12/20), Florida State (1/10), Tennessee (1/17) and
Miami (1/24).
"Florida State and Oklahoma were both in here
tonight putting the press on me," Franklin joked. "I talked to Jody Allen
from FSU and Bobby Jack Wright from Oklahoma. Both of them seem like real
good people to be around. They make it a pretty tough decision."
Miami still holds a slight lead for his services,
Franklin said. The Hurricanes will be making an in-home visit Thursday night
as Curtis Johnson makes the trip to Reserve.
Franklin finished his senior season with more than
100 tackles and 10 sacks. He had 24 1/2 sacks his last two years at East St.
John.
