It turned out to be one of the most interesting recruiting stories of the year. Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) defensive back Devin Ross seemed set on his decision and was planning to announce for the Oregon Ducks during the CaliFlorida Bowl in late December. Arizona made a strong late push causing Ross to delay his decision and then a week ago, things got really interesting when USC came on board with an offer. What would Ross do now?
After agonizing over his decision, Ross announced moments ago he would be attending Arizona.
"I really liked Arizona all along but it was a very tough choice," Ross said. "They have a great class coming in and I love the coaching staff they have. I've been up there several times on official and unofficial visit and that's just the school I felt the most comfortable with."
Many felt USC was the team to beat the minute they offered but Ross said Arizona is the school he was going to stay with no matter what.
"USC is a great school and a great program but even before they offered me, I had my mind made up on the Cats," Ross said. "I love that defense and I think I'll have a chance to come in and play right away there. I'm excited to be a Wildcat and I think its' a great situation for me."
Arizona is having their second straight monster recruiting class and the addition of Ross should solidify no worse than a top 15 class nationally and possibly the No. 2 spot in the Pac 10 behind only USC. In just two short years, Mike Stoops is proving to be one of the nation's best recruiters and his staff has done an incredible job.
