Four-star Chris Murray impressed by Arizona

Chris Murray took an unofficial visit to Arizona this past offseason. He liked it.

So the four-star offensive guard from Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei wanted to take an official trip to Tucson this past weekend, he had another excellent experience and the Wildcats remain a player in his recruitment.

“I had a great trip with my mom to Tucson this weekend,” Murray said. “I saw the whole place when I took an unofficial last spring but I wanted to come back and see the game environment and bring my mom with me as well because she was unable to last time.

“Got to see that big win for them and also another chance to see (Khalil) Tate and (J.J.) Taylor who I both played against my sophomore year. It's cool seeing two ballers in high school doing the same thing in college.”

Murray, who is planning to visit Stanford but hasn’t figured out a date yet, has recently come back from trips to Utah and Notre Dame. Both went really well, too, and both the Utes and the Irish will be highly considered in his recruitment.

As for Arizona, things could not have gone better. His relationship with the Wildcats’ coaching staff could be a major factor as the four-star offensive lineman works through his recruitment.

“It was a great trip,” Murray said. “Arizona’s coaching staff is probably one of my favorites just because of the realness and connection I've made with them. I have a great relationship with coach (Jim Michalczik) and (Chris) Singletary and it always helps that an old (Mater Dei player) Xavier Bell is on the team, too.

“Arizona is making strides in the Pac-12 this year with Khalil and hopefully has earned respect. If they beat USC this weekend that'll be pretty impressive.”
