Four-star Bryan Addison to start official visits this weekend

SAN DIEGO – Bryan Addison has earned a reputation as one of the best safeties in the country but he’s also a standout receiver.

His length makes it difficult for cornerbacks to slow him down, evidenced by his three-touchdown performance in Gardena (Calif.) Serra’s loss to Honolulu (Hawaii) Punahou recently in the Honor Bowl.

It’s made Addison an even bigger target on the recruiting trail.

“Most schools are recruiting me for both sides of the ball,” Addison said. “I like playing receiver. I’m just trying to get the physical part of it down and the mental part as well.”

As for his recruitment, Addison has set up three official visits starting this weekend when he heads to Nebraska. He is expected to be joined by three-star WR and Serra teammate Kobe Smith.

“I just want to see the enthusiasm the fans have and the way coach Donte (Williams) and coach (Bob) Diaco get down with their players,” Addison said.

The following weekend, Addison is planning to visit Arizona State for the Oregon matchup and then he will see Michigan when Michigan State comes to town. The four-star also plans to visit Washington but he doesn’t have a date yet.

“My brother (Joey Bryant) goes there,” Addison said of ASU. “My brother is always at the film room talking to the coaches and sometimes I call my brother and I get to talk to the coaches while they’re in there so I get to see what’s going on.

“I just want to see where I could fit in with the (Michigan) team on the offensive and defensive side of the ball.”

When it comes to a fifth and final official visit, Addison does not have anything planned yet. UCLA is absolutely a frontrunner in his recruitment and USC continues to stay involved as well.

“I talk to UCLA a lot,” Addison said. “SC is still there. They’re still talking to me and recruiting me so I have love for SC.”

New interest has been coming in from Florida especially since four-star quarterback Matt Corral from Long Beach (Calif.) Poly is committed to the Gators.
