Class of 2025 four-star athlete Zymear Smith is no longer an Alabama pledge. Smith took to social media to publicly announce his decommitment from the Crimson Tide on Wednesday.

"First and foremost I would like to say thank you to the Alabama football staff for taking the time out to recruit me [throughout] this process — nothing but love and respect from the beginning, appreciate [y'all] so much," Smith said on X. "After talking things over with my family and mentors, I will be de-committing from the University of Alabama."

Smith originally received an offer from Alabama in February and committed to the Crimson Tide in March.

He was back in Tuscaloosa for his official visit with Alabama during the weekend of May 31 through June 2.

Penn State was originally considered to be a major player in Smith's recruitment, while Maryland, Pittsburgh and others were in the mix. Most recently, he took an official visit with the Terrapins during the weekend of June 21 through June 23, and Maryland is definitely a school to watch for Smith moving forward.

The North Caroline High School (Ridgely, Maryland) athlete ranks as the No. 7 prospect in the state of Maryland and No. 10 athlete in the 2025 cycle.

Class of 2025 three-star inside linebacker Myles Johnson also announced his decommitment from Alabama on Wednesday.

Following the decommitments of Smith and Johnson, Alabama's 2025 recruiting class currently includes 20 total pledges. The Crimson Tide rank second in the national recruiting team rankings.
