Four-star Alabama commit delays planned signing

In college football’s answer to an M. Night Shyamalan film, Rivals 100 cornerback Nadab Joseph’s Early Signing Day surprise was that his early signing day didn’t exist.

Joseph, an Alabama commit who was expected to sign with the Crimson Tide on Wednesday, made a last-minute decision to sit things out. The four-star defensive back was mostly quiet on Singing Day after telling Rivals.com that he might not sign.

Hours later, his coach and guardian, Vick Evans, confirmed the change of plans via text.

“He won’t sign today,” Evans wrote.

What happens now is unclear. Neither Joseph nor Evan calcified whether or not a letter of intent would be signed during the signing window’s remaining two days. Sources indicate that Georgia has made a late push for Joseph and was, at least in part, the reason for the 11th-hour delay.

And while Joseph did not confirm his intentions to consider Georgia in the coming days, the fact that he visited Athens just before committing to Alabama makes UGA seem like the logical other option.

Joseph, who was committed to LSU before pledging his services to Alabama, is ranked as the No. 10 cornerback and the No. 84 overall prospect in the class of 2018.
