Four standing out to Rivals100 CB Gervin

While uncommitted senior prospects at Detroit Cass Tech like Donovan Peoples-Jones and Donovan Johnson have the attention of the recruiting world, Cass Tech four-star junior cornerback Kalon Gervin is making some news with his recruitment.

WHAT’S NEXT

Gervin informed Rivals.com Wednesday morning that Oklahoma, Pittsburgh, Tennessee and West Virginia were his top four at this stage of his recruitment. His Detroit Cass Tech team is currently undefeated and marching toward another state title game appearance, which would coincide with the final weekend of the College Football regular season, so it is unlikely he will be able to attend any more games this season. He was previously able to make game visits to Michigan, Michigan State and Wisconsin, but has not visited any of his top four during the season.

IN HIS WORDS

“They are recruiting me the hardest at this point and I have a great relationship with the head coaches.”

RIVALS’ REACTION

The big surprise here is not which teams are mentioned, but which teams are not. Specifically, in-state Big Ten programs Michigan and Michigan State as well as Ohio State. The last time a four-star prospect out of Cass Technical school did not end up at one of those three programs was 2010 and there have been nine four-stars since that time. But, we are still early in this recruitment and I am not expecting Gervin to make a decision in the near future, so that trio – as well as the two dozen other schools that have offered – will have a chance to work their way up Gervin’s list in the coming months. So far this year Gervin has 24 tackles and seven pass break ups from his cornerback position.
