Blake Jackson is still probably far from making a decision but the Scottsdale (Ariz.) Scottsdale C.C. tight end has started to schedule some visits and that could give clues as to which programs are standing out.
Jackson, a 6-foot-4, 235-pound prospect, said he plans to take an unofficial visit to Arizona within the next three weeks and he's also working with Miami to take a trip there sometime in June.
For sure, official visits to Tennessee and Oklahoma State will happen and Jackson said both will probable occur after his season.
"It makes it really hard during the season because we're getting ready for our game, they're getting ready for their game and we don't have a bye week until the last week of the year," Jackson said. "It's almost impossible to take visits then."
Although Jackson didn't want to name any leaders, he said those four schools - Arizona, Miami, Oklahoma State and Tennessee - are "definitely frontrunners" as his recruitment heats up.
So far, Arizona, Arkansas, Miami, Oklahoma State, Pitt, Purdue, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Toledo have offered.
"I'm very interested in all (four of those teams) but I don't want to say anything too bold," Jackson said. "They're definitely toward the top though."
Visits will be important to Jackson, who has already taken unofficial trips to Arkansas and Arizona State. He might be able to narrow his list down to a top three by the end of his season and then after seeing some campuses should be ready to make his decision.
"Once I get to see the schools it's really going to cut it down," Jackson said. "I want to really start seeing these places.
"Once I see Miami and I've already seen Arkansas so I'll have an idea of how I feel between those two. It will start to get itself down. Hopefully, I'll be down to three by the time our season ends and then I can take those visits and make a decision easily."
