Four offer morning for four-star OL

Aledo (Tex.) 2017 offensive guard Wes Harris has been waiting patiently for his first offer. He did not know when to expect it or who would be first, but he was confident an offer would arrive soon.
Monday morning the flood gates opened and Harris welcomed not one but four college scholarship offers, as Texas State, Boise State, Tulsa, and TCU extended offers.

"I was always thinking once I get the first one they'll start flowing in a little more, but never expected to get my first four within a two hour period," Harris said.
The day started with Aledo coach Steve Wood telling Harris coaches from Texas State and Boise State wanted him to get in touch. So the 6-foot-3, 285-pound standout jumped on the phone and called Texas State Bobcats offensive line coach Brad Bedell.
"I called Texas State first and when he told me we want to be the first to offer you a full scholarship my heart about busted out of my chest," Harris said. "It was the most amazing thing I've ever heard in my life. It made me so happy. I was jumping up and down."
Texas State had been quietly keeping an eye on Harris, but coach Bedell did make a very strong impression on Monday.
"He was a really cool guy. He was real straight forward," Harris said. "I remember thinking whoever is the first to offer is going to have a special place in my heart. Whenever he told me he wanted to be the first to bless me with a scholarship my heart about blew out of my chest. It was something else. It was something special."
Once he calmed down and collected himself he was ready to make the second call and he reached out to Boise State.
"He said pretty much the same thing," Harris said. "He said we need to get you down here soon. He asked if I had any offers yet and I said about 30 seconds ago Texas State offered me. He said I want to be the second guy to offer you a full scholarship. I hope coach Wood wasn't looking out the window because I was doing the happy dance. There's no telling what he thought I was doing."
Harris is familiar with the Boise State program, and sees a lot to like in the Broncos.
"I watched their bowl game when they played Arizona. Their offensive line was very physical up front this year," Harris said. "I watched a couple of their games, especially their bowl game, and they had that good running back. They took it to Arizona up front in that game and they kind of run a lot like our offense. They run a lot of zone and straight forward stuff and then they'll pull a guard. Then their field. I think they have the coolest field in football. That blue field is awesome.
It did not take long for Harris to find out his excitement was not over yet. The Tulsa Golden Hurricane sent a direct message on Twitter to let Harris know they had some news for him.
After reaching out he learned he joined his older brother Hunter Harris, who is a 2016 offensive lineman at Aledo, with an offer from Tulsa.
"They came to our very first practice," Harris said. "He has got to be the coolest coach I've ever met. He's a really good guy, a cool guy. He likes my brother and I both and it's a good school down there and the city is really cool. It would be an awesome place to go."
Then to top it all off the TCU Horned Frogs extended an offer.
Harris knew TCU was interested and he knew they were at Aledo on Monday, and he was excited to receive the news.
"I grew up right around this area," Harris said. "TCU is only 25-30 minutes down the road and they've always been such a stinking good football team. I just remember going to all the games as a kid and watching them and always kind of wanting to play for them because it's 30 minutes down the road, all your friends and family can come support you, and you can come home and eat momma's cooking whenever you want to. It would just be awesome. It would be so neat. It's a great school. A great football program. They have great coaches. I mean its 30 minutes down the road. What more could you ask for."
The Horned Frogs are currently at the top of his list, but Harris is not in a hurry at this time. He knows he likes what TCU has to offer, but he wants to keep an open mind right now.
"I'm not going to commit just yet. They're my No. 1. That's going to be hard to change honestly," Harris said. "I'm not going to commit anywhere before my senior year. I'm going to stay open as much as possible."
In addition to his scholarship offers, Harris has also recently drawn attention from Alabama, Texas, and Oklahoma. All three programs have stopped by the school in the last few weeks and he plans to camp at all three. He also plans to attend a TCU camp this summer and maybe one other college camp.
Harris is currently ranked a 5.8, four-star prospect in the 2017 recruiting class. He was one of four offensive linemen who earned a spot on the Dallas RCS Offensive Top Performers list, joining offensive line MVP Rowdy Frederick, five-star offensive tackle Gregory Little, and Alabama offensive guard commit Chris Owens.
