Four favorites for Lockett

Jonathan Lockett said things have been slow in recent weeks but could heat up starting soon since Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei is ready to kick off spring practice.
Utah and Vanderbilt are the two programs showing the most new interest in Lockett, a 5-foot-11, 172-pound prospect who has shined this off-season in numerous 7on7 tournaments.

"Schools have been stopping by, a lot of schools that have offered already, they're stopping by to check me out," Lockett said.
"Most of the new schools are coming this week because my spring ball starts this week. Those two (Utah and Vanderbilt) are coming next week for sure. That's all I know right now."
Lockett has named a top four of UCLA, Washington, Notre Dame and Oregon and he said those remain in favor but he is still open to other programs.
Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Oregon State and San Jose State have also offered the Mater Dei standout and USC and others continue to show interest.
"They're still the same," Lockett said. "The four are still early favorites. That has not changed at all."
This summer could be important in Lockett's recruitment. Since he was invited to The Opening in Oregon, the three-star said Washington is pushing for an unofficial visit and he could also visit with the Ducks as well.
Since both Washington and Oregon are among his favorites, Lockett sees that as a perfect opportunity to figure out if either school might be the best fit.
"I got invited to The Opening so coach (Keith) Heyward said he wanted me to come a day earlier and visit Washington and maybe I could visit Oregon, too," Lockett said.
"It would be very cool to get up there. I think I might spend the night with one of the players so that would be a good experience."
