Foster picks up more offers

Oregon and Cal were surprise offers for D.J. Foster but the 2012 athlete from Scottsdale (Ariz.) Saguaro is excited about both Pac-10 programs and said the Ducks and Golden Bears will be seriously considered when he starts narrowing down his list.
"It feels good," Foster said. "It feels like all the hard work is starting to pay off. Oregon and Cal were definitely two offers I wanted so I'm definitely glad I got them. They're definitely schools I will consider.

"Oregon has been talking to my coach but I didn't think they were that interested. I haven't heard much from Cal at all. They were both kind of surprises. They were both kind of out of the blue."
Foster, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound prospect, has been interested in Oregon for a long time and said it's especially good to get an offer from the Ducks after their extraordinary success this season.
"It's definitely a great honor from one of the top schools in the nation and a team that's going to play for the national championship," Foster said.
"I really like the program. I always watch them and I love how they run their offense. It's kind of like us with the spread."
Even though Cal had not been recruiting Foster all that much, he always had interest in the program and after talking with defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast the Golden Bears are definitely in the running.
"I got to talk to coach Pendergast a little bit and he's a really cool guy," Foster said. "It was good to talk to him. They want me as a DB. I thought that was pretty cool."
Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Oregon State and UCLA have also offered Foster, who recently finished his junior season highlight tape and hopes to send it out soon. He said his coach is trying to contact some SEC schools to gauge interest.
It's still so early in his recruitment so Foster said at this point he's just gathering offers and then will make decisions later in the process. He still has an entire season left to play so there's lots of time before he has to make a commitment.
"I'm just trying to collect them right now," Foster said. "I'm not trying to put too much thought into it. The more I get, I'll narrow it down but right now I'm just trying to get more offers and worry about my senior year. I still have a whole other year."
