One of the state's top running backs who doesn't get a lot of mention is Riverside (Calif.) J.W. North's Cedric Foster. Foster has one offer and is hopeful of a few more rolling in shortly.
Foster, 5-8, 185 pounds is a talented player with a nice combination of speed and power. He impressed at the NIKE Combine in Long Beach last fall where he clocked a 4.63-40, jumped 36 inches in the vertical and did 15 reps on the bench.
As a junior, Foster rushed for 1,500 yards and 24 touchdowns and is having a very solid senior year as well. The athlete has rushed 96 times for 908 yards (9.5 ave.) and 16 touchdowns to go with 51 tackles from his linebacker position.
On the recruiting front, Foster picked up an early offer from San Diego State and the Aztecs remain his lone offer at this time.
"San Diego State is definitely recruiting me the hardest," Foster said. "I've actually thought about committing at different times this year but I really want to go through the recruiting process and keep my options open.
"I want to see who else is going to offer and I also want to take my visits. Right now, the main schools calling in addition to SDSU are Washington and Washington State and Colorado and Arizona are sending a lot of mail.
"I just took the SAT November 3 and I think once I get my score back, a lot more schools will start to recruit me. At least that's what I'm hoping for. Right now, I'm looking for a school where I'll be comfortable and a place that will feel like home to me.
"Distance isn't a factor, I'll go anywhere. I'm just looking f or the right fit and I really want to take all five trips so I can be sure I'm doing the right thing."
