Forrest talks about commitment

New Mexico picked up commitment No. 3 last week from Carlsbad (N.M.) defensive back Bubba Forrest. Forrest, a 6-0, 185 pound safety is ranked the No. 8 player in the state and will be the third member of the family to attend UNM a year from now.
Forrest suffered an elbow injury and missed most of his junior season. Still he had a standout showing at the Lobos summer camp and a scholarship offer soon followed.

"I also camped at Arizona State, New Mexico State, UTEP and TCU but New Mexico was always the place for me," Forrest said. "I loved the coaches and I grew up a fan of the school since my dad (Richard) played there as well as my uncle (Mike). It just felt like home when I was there.
"I didn't want to commit right away because my family wanted me to look around and explore my options but in my head, once New Mexico offered me, I knew that's where I was going. I wanted to commit before school started so last week we drove up to the campus and that's when I told Coach Long I was coming."
