Former Washington star finds new home

One of the gems of Nebraska's 2005 recruiting class is now going to end up at Hawaii.
Leon Jackson, a 6-foot-, 210-pound running back/defensive back, left Nebraska after playing in nine games in 2005 as a member of the kickoff coverage team and a backup safety.

He is now taking classes at a junior college and will end up getting his degree from one of the Kansas junior colleges and then sign a national letter of intent with Hawaii.
"I'm a Warrior now," Jackson, who rushed for 4,929 yards in his high school career in Pasco, Wash., said. "I'm going to sign with them and be out there in August."
Jackson is attending a community college this year, is likely to transfer to one of the Kansas junior college to get his associates degree and will enroll at UH in August.
Because he is sitting out this season, fulfilling the one-season waiting period for a transfer, he will be eligible to play in 2007. Jackson said he will have three seasons of eligibility.
When he was a senior, Jackson was ranked by Rivals.com as a four-star player and the No. 4 athlete in the nation. He turned down scholarship offers from Washington, Washington State, Oregon and Oregon State and had interest from Southern California.
Jackson, who was recruited by UH assistant coach Rich Miano, thinks he'll be a perfect fit for the Hawaii offense.
"They spread it out, and I like that," Jackson said. "That's more my style. That opens up the running game. That fits me better."
