Former UNC star closing in on decision

After spending his freshman season at North Carolina and playing last year for Garden City (Kan.) Community College, Daniel Davis decided to sit out and not play this year.
"I wanted to get all my grades in order and make sure I could get out in December," Davis said. "I'm on track to do it. Coach Larson has been great. He's been real helpful in letting me do it this way so I can play for two years at whatever school I choose."

The list of schools pursuing Davis includes a long line of top teams. "There are lots and lots of schools calling. But I am really just looking at five of them. Colorado, South Carolina, Kansas State, Michigan State and North Carolina are the ones I am watching."
"I'm working on when to visit schools and stuff. All five of those schools have offered me scholarships and will have me come visit if I want to. My plans are to have this whole thing wrapped by the end of this month."
