Jarrett Patterson recently reopened his recruitment after being committed to Arizona State for months.

Last weekend, the three-star offensive lineman from Mission Viejo, Calif., took his official visit to Michigan, a school that has come on strong recently.

It was cold. It was snowy. And Patterson had an excellent time.

“Michigan was a great visit,” Patterson said. “I was able to see a practice in person and also sit down and talk a lot with the coaches. I was able to receive a full campus tour and check out all of the facilities there.”

The Mission Viejo standout was shown a great time by host Ben Bredeson and if the Wolverines land Patterson then Bredeson could be a big reason why.

“My host was Ben Bredeson and he was amazing,” Patterson said.

“He showed me around Ann Arbor and we were able to spend time with other players and regular students. What stood out most is how close the guys are and how they spend time with other students around them. That was really special to me.”

An important part of his visit to Michigan was to sit down with the coaches to see how they would utilize him across the offensive line. The 6-foot-5, 275-pound three-star appreciated the message.

“The coaches told me it is very competitive at Michigan but they aren’t afraid to play true freshmen,” Patterson said.

“They also said the offense they run can prepare me for the NFL and the education can set me up for life. I would definitely play for coach (Tim) Drevno because he is a smart guy and cares for his players along with coach (Jim) Harbaugh.”

Patterson’s only other visit will be to UCLA.
