"I worked hard this summer and worked a lot with the guys, just throwing the ball around," he said. "I knew where (his high school quarterback) was going to go with the ball."
Chuck Amato's staff at North Carolina State offered him a scholarship earlier in the process and he was told that the offer is still on the table.
"I've heard from coach Dick Portee," he said. "He said that the athletic director is going to try to honor all of the scholarship offers that have been given. They are still in the running, I am going to take an official visit there."
Ford is scheduled to take an official visit to Raleigh on the weekend of Jan. 5.
Wake Forest also has been in contact. Ford will take an official visit to Winston-Salem, N.C., on the weekend of Jan. 12.
"They have had a big season," he said. "I really like coach Henry the defensive ends coach, they are recruiting me as a tight end."
Ford's Shrine Bowl experience has been great so far and he's looking forward to the start of practice, which will come at 9:30 a.m. Monday.
"So far, it's been really great," he said. "We start practice tomorrow and I'm looking forward to showing everybody what I can do against some of the top talent around."
With numerous college coaches expected to attend at least one of the practice sessions, Ford is mindful that he could see his stock increase with a great showing this week.
"It's crossed my mind because I've heard that there is going to be a bunch of coaches here," he said. "It's a good opportunity to show them what I can do."
Ford currently is a two-star rated prospect by Rivals.com.
