Ford focuses on start of senior season

Longview, Texas, athlete DaCorris Ford played defensive end as a junior, despite only being 6-foot-1 and 199 pounds. Now he'll move back to a more natural position in 2007. He's playing linebacker, and he's much more comfortable with the new role.
"Things have been going really good in practices for me," Ford, a two-star prospect, said. "We scrimmage next Friday, but I can tell that I'm faster and stronger than last year. This year I'm at middle linebacker, and I like it. I get more contact at the linebacker spot.

"That's more natural place for me. I also get to be a better leader there. One of my big goals is to have a great season and then get a scholarship."
Despite a good junior season and widely being considered as one of the top 40 players in East Texas, Ford is still searching for his first scholarship offer.
"Oklahoma State seems real interested," Ford said.
"Oklahoma and Texas Tech have sent me some stuff here late this summer. But the most consistent people that have been in contact have been Louisiana Tech, SMU and Mississippi State.
"I don't have a leader or anything. I'm just looking for an opportunity. I'm hoping I get to go out against Lufkin in that first game and impress some people and that'll allow me to get an opportunity."
