Ford Field is place to be on Friday

If you’re in the Detroit area this upcoming weekend, be sure to check out Ford Field on Friday night. That’s when the Detroit City Championship will be on the line between Detroit M.L. King and Detroit Crockett. It’s also going to a game with several big-time recruits on hand – including King running back Butler “Trey” Benton.
Benton gets his nickname Trey because he is actually Butler Benton III, so the name Trey has stuck with him ever since – just like he sticks defenses with his ability to score from anywhere on the field.

“I had two touchdowns this weekend,” Benton, a two-star prospect that is 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds, said. “I scored one on offense and then I scored another on defense. I ran up on the ball and caught it with one hand. I just read the quarterback and reached out and grabbed it. I then took it to the house.”
Benton is seriously focused on four teams when it comes to recruiting – Indiana, Maryland, Boston College and Ohio State.
“Ohio State calls, but not every week like the other three do,” Benton, who could project at running back or a number of other positions, said. “Indiana has offered me and I’m very interested in them. Maryland and Boston College are close. They told me last week they were running tape up to their head coaches to see if I can get an offer.”
Benton sees the positives about each of the three schools.
“I think I have a good chance at playing early at Indiana,” he said. “Boston College is known for its great running backs like William Green. And Maryland is an up-and-coming program that wins a lot of games.”
