Footman hoping to land offers

ORLANDO, Fla. - Monticello (Fla.) Jefferson County senior athlete Alphonso Footman finished his senior season with 2,139 rushing yards and 25 rushing touchdowns. It is just one of the many ways he contributed along the way to his team earning the Class 1A State Championship with a 47-13 victory over Chipley (Fla.) on Friday evening.
"It is a blessing," Footman said of the championship victory. "We are ecstatic.

"Through it all, ups and downs, this team never lost faith," Footman added. "We just listened to what our coaches had to say and we came through."
The 5-foot-9,1 190-pound athlete is hoping that his strong senior campaign will pay off with him receiving an offer.
"I am hearing from some schools but I haven't gotten an offer yet," Footman said. "I am just waiting to see. I am hearing from Kentucky, Iowa State, Illinois, Georgia Tech, and some others."
In hopes of generating new interest, Footman intends to send a new highlight tape out in the next week.
"I am going to send my new highlights out," Footman said. "I know I can play at the Division I level, so that is where I want to get at."
In addition to his rushing yards, Footman also had 26 receptions for 323 yards and four touchdowns.
