Football in Pinsons blood

Football is Beaumont (Texas) Westbrook Quinn Pinson’s blood. Have doubts? Just look at what the rest of his family has accomplished. He is the younger brother of Oklahoma defensive tackle Lynn McGruder and the cousin of Sooner running back Adrian Peterson. McGruder is expected to play a key role this year for the Sooners and Peterson was the nation’s No. 1 player in the country last year.
“I take no prisoners, and I’m not afraid of anybody or any challenge,” Pinson, who is 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, said. “If you ask me to put a shoulder on somebody or run through a brick wall, then that’s what I’ll do.”

Pinson started his season off with a major bang last Friday night.
Westbrook beat cross-town rival Beaumont Ozen in double-overtime, and Pinson played a key role in the victory. With two touchdowns and the game winning points on a two-point conversion, it was a game that Pinson plans to remember.
“My first half was not all that good,” he said. “The second half was my best game ever. I had two touchdowns, no three, but one was called back. Then I scored the two-point conversion that won the game. It was on a 67-regular. That’s when we line up in the I with the fullback on the strongside of the formation.
“I just powered it right in.”
Pinson is starting to power things up on the recruiting front. Even though he does not have an offer at this point, he did get calls in May from UTEP, Tulsa, Iowa State, Louisiana Tech and Texas Tech. He continues to get regular correspondence from those schools and hopes to hear from them starting on Wednesday, the first day that college coaches can call again.
“I would love to hear from Oklahoma since my brother is up there,” he said. “But I’ll be open to about anybody that shows interest in me.”
Pinson still does have some work to do in the classroom before he can be eligible for the next level, but it’s something he is working on and hopefully can improve in time to qualify.
