Folk talks about commitment

When we talked with Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame kicker Erik Folk earlier in the week, he had just picked up his first scholarship from the Washington Huskies as week earlier. Folk said he liked UW a lot but wanted to wait a bit before making his decision. The wait didn't last too long as Folk committed Wednesday night.
Folk, 5-10, 185 pounds is just another in a long line of big time kicking prospects to come out of Notre Dame. Chris Sailer (UCLA), Nick Folk (Arizona) and Kai Forbath (UCLA) are just a few names that come to mind and Folk is the latest.

Although Folk said he wanted to wait before making his decision, the more he thought about it, he realized there was no need to wait any more.
"I talked to my family and some other people and just realized Washington was the best place for me," Folk said. "I really liked it there on my visit and I couldn't imagine finding a place that would be a better fit for me.
"So even though I said I wanted to wait and take one more visit to Washington, I decided to get it over with. I called up Coach Willingham last night and told him the news and he was really excited for me. I'm going to take my official visit when my season is over but hopefully that won't be for awhile."
Folk picked up his second offer from Nebraska this week and he was also hearing from Oregon.
