Flowers thinking Auburn

Kenny Flowers isn't making a secret of things. The Hutchinson Community College linebacker has no problem speaking his mind. There's no vow of silence or misinformation. The process isn't shielded whatsoever. This is just a football player preparing to make a verbal a commitment.
Flowers' finalists are Auburn, Texas Tech and Kansas State. Flowers intends to select from that group sometime this weekend. Of the final three, he's only visited Auburn. He's favored the Tigers all along, too. But, in case that wasn't enough to ruin the surprise …

"I'm still thinking about, but I'm starting to lean toward Auburn," Flowers said on Friday afternoon. "The visit that I took and the new coaches … I could see myself there. It's close to home, too. There are just a lot of positives. There's nothing but positives."
Flowers says the other two schools still have a fighting chance and warns that nothing will be final until he gives his verbal pledge to a coaching staff. Still, the book on his recruitment is closing and could be slammed shut by this time on Saturday.
"I'm going to commit this weekend, probably tomorrow," Flowers said. "I think I'm close to ready to do it. I'm really leaning toward Auburn."
According to Flowers, the fact that both Texas Tech and Kansas State got to his a recruitment "a little late" helped shove the Tigers further into the driver's seat. It's not as though Auburn needed an additional bump, though.
For him, there's plenty there to like. The pull is stronger now than ever.
" They want to build that defense up and build that team up," Flowers said. "It's not going to be like last year. I just want to get there and do my best to be the best weakside linebacker."
If Flowers does, in fact, pledge his services to Auburn, he'll join Hutchinson teammates Ben Bradley and Devonte Danzey on the program's 2013 commitment list.
