Three-star offensive lineman Devin Flowers made a decision last week. The 6-foot-4, 281-pounder decided to head across the border.
"I committed to South Carolina State last weekend on the 23rd," he said. "I just was looking at everything and overall I looked at the coaching staff, the program, the academics, tradition and just felt at home.
"I just felt like it was somewhere I can go down and have an early chance to compete and looking at the recruiting class going to South Carolina State, I felt really comfortable with all the guys.
"I had been down seven times before. My parents hung out with the coaches and you know it was just a good overall feeling."
The opportunity to play early of course is an option as well.
"You know any time you're given a chance to compete somewhere early that's a pretty good feeling," he said. "I'm going down there to play center, so I could possibly compete for a starting job there."
