Flowers feeling Kentucky

Lima, Ohio wide receiver Ruben Flowers holds five offers and says of those schools Kentucky is the one he knows the best at this stage of his process.
"They offered a long time ago," Flowers said of Kentucky. "I like Coach (Vince) Marrow a lot. He seems like a real good coach real down-to-earth kind of guy."

Flowers is close with current Kentucky Wildcat and Lima native Darius West, who signed with the school in the 2014 class.
"Me and Darius are very close," Flowers said. "We work most every day in the summertime. He said they are building a program and it might take a year or two, but the team effort is going to get it right."
Kentucky already has commitments from four juniors out of the state of Ohio, and Flowers is familiar with several of their class of 2016 targets and commits.
"I am real good friends with Messiah (deWeaver) and Tobias (Gilliam)," Flowers said. "Me, Messiah and Austin Mack have a little group message and talk every day."
Flowers has made two visits to Lexington during his recruiting process, though he is interested to see the development of the campus over the next year.
"I like it right now, but they are remodeling the whole campus," he said.
Besides Kentucky, Flowers also holds offers from Cincinnati, Illinois, Iowa and Toledo. Additionally he is hearing regularly from Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Michigan State, Indiana, Purdue and Akron.
"I'm probably going to hit up some junior days and spring practices," Flowers said. "I am planning on making trips to Pittsburgh and Purdue."
The 6-foot-4, 185-pound Flowers is currently playing forward for a 17-3 Lima High basketball team and is averaging 10 points and nine rebounds a game. On the gridiron this past fall he caught 58 passes for 1,300 yards and 14 touchdowns.
