Landel Bembo returned with favorable impressions from his
first official visit this past weekend.
Bembo (5-9, 165, 4.46) made the long journey to from
the Sunshine State to chilly Syracuse, and said he had a great time.
"I felt really comfortable around their coaches and
players," he said. "(Sophomore wideout) Andre Fontenette was my host. We had
a bunch of time just hanging out and talking about stuff we both liked. We
went to the basketball game at the Carrier Dome. That place is huge. I
wasn't prepared for how big it would be. That was cool."
Syracuse assistant and wide receiver coach Dennis
Goldman returned the trip to Bembo's Tallahassee home, making sure he knew
he was a big priority for the Orangemen.
"They think I can be a big part of their offense,
that I'm suited for their style," he said.
Is a commitment looming?
"It's been on my mind," he said, "but I haven't reached any final decisions yet."
Bembo also has an offer on the table from Central
Florida.
"They're close to home and throw the ball a lot, so
I'm really thinking hard about them as well."
The Knights are in the process of setting up an
official visit. Bembo said Bowling Green and Indiana may also get visits.
As a senior, Bembo caught 33 passes for 510 yards
and five touchdowns for Godby HS. He also returned a punt for a touchdown.
