Florida WR headed north

Tampa (Fla.) Chamberlain WR Brandon Williams has made a surprising commitment.
Williams (6-1, 170, 4.4) picked Akron over offers from Iowa State and Duke due in large part to the Zips' new head coach.

"What made me decide on Akron was the way I connected with the coaches there and the chance to play for coach (J.D.) Brookhart," he said. "He's going to win at Akron, and I want to be there. I was impressed with coach Brookhart the whole way, and I know about some of the great receivers he
coached at Pitt like Antonio Bryant and Larry Fitzgerald."
Another receiver who was under Brookhart's tutelage as Pitt's offensive
coordinator and receivers coach was Greg Lee, a 2003 Panther recruit and high school teammate of Williams.
"I talked to (Lee) a lot about coach Brookhart, and he just loved him,"
explained Williams. "He told me if I had a chance to play for coach, I should take it."
Williams caught 36 passes as a
senior and 23 as a junior at Chamberlain.
