Florida WR has all the tools

Tampa (Fla.) Jefferson wide receiver Dohnovan Simpson has all the attributes needed to be a top prospect in the Sunshine State for 2005, according to his coach.
“Dohnovan will be a three-year starter for us this season,” said Jefferson coach Mike Simmonds. “He started for us both ways as a sophomore in the 2002 state championship game, which is a pretty big deal for a young kid. And he was impact player, too. He came up with a nice interception in that game.”

Simpson (6-1, 175, 4.5) had 16 catches for 227 yards as a sophomore and nearly doubled those figures as a junior. He also led the team with five touchdown receptions.
“He’s pretty much our go-to man at wide receiver,” Simmonds said. “He’s got great hands – some of the best I’ve ever seen from a kid at this level – and he really runs well. He makes it look effortless, like he’s gliding.
“Another thing I really like about him is he’s fearless. He’s not afraid to go across the middle like some receivers. When he runs that slant or the skinny post, with his hands and fearlessness, it’s automatic. I know the college coaches love that.”
Simmonds said Simpson’s highlight tape is just starting to get out.
“He’s getting letters from all over right now,” he said. “Most of the schools down here know about him, and a few others out there. I think after they come and see him this spring and get a chance to watch more film on him, he’ll be a highly recruited kid.”
Simmonds also praised Simpson’s work ethic, both on and off the field. He maintains a 3.2 GPA in the classroom.
