Florida WR commits to Syracuse

Landel Bembo has pulled the
trigger on his college choice.
Bembo (5-9, 165, 4.46) says he committed to Syracuse
this week on the heels of a good visit to upstate New York on Dec. 6.
"I felt really comfortable around their coaches and
players," he said. "I pretty much had made up my mind while I was up there, but
I kept it to myself for a while just to make sure. Coach (Dennis) Goldman was
down here at our house for dinner last week, and I decided to go ahead and tell
him about my decision.
"I've got a good opportunity to get some early playing
time there -- I was the first wide receiver they got a commitment from -- and
it's a place where you can get a real strong education."
Bembo picked the Orangemen over Central Florida and
Indiana..
As a senior, he caught 33 passes for 510 yards and five
touchdowns for Godby HS. He also returned a punt for a touchdown. He hauled in
44 passes for 922 yards and nine touchdowns as a junior when he was a finalist
for the Class 4A player of the year award.
