Florida TE returns from Knoxville

Pace (Fla.) tight end D.J. Norris was one of many prospects who was in Knoxville last weekend for Tennessee's big game with Florida. So how did he like his unofficial trip?

"Yeah, it was nice," Norris said. "It was real wet and it was raining a lot. I didn't get to meet all their coaches but I talked to one of their coaches right before I left. I got there at one o'clock and you were supposed to be there by 11. I just went to the game and talked to some of their athletic people. It was packed. There wasn't a seat empty I don't think. It was an awesome atmosphere. That's why they're still up there even though they did lose. But I had a lot of fun. It was kind of shocking that they got beat that bad. And as soon as I got back the Florida coach called."
D.J. has scholarship offers from Tennessee, Florida State, UCF, South Florida, East Carolina, and Troy State. He thinks two other schools might offer soon.
"Auburn says they want me and Georgia Tech too. I talked to the Georgia Tech coach and he said the head coach has to meet you before they actually offer. I'm supposed to go up there for a game too."
Norris hasn't scheduled any official visit dates but he believes he will take an official to Tennessee later this season.
"I know I'm going to set up mine to go to Tennessee probably for one of their games, either Alabama or Miami," Norris said.
D.J. mentioned he might see the Florida Gators host Kentucky this weekend in Gainesville and might give consideration to attending UF if they offer.
"I'm waiting for them to offer," he said. "If they offer then they'll definitely be in the picture."
Norris is still leaning towards the 'Noles and Vols though.
"Florida State and Tennessee are probably in front," he said. "Florida State is probably No. 1 right now."
Pace is 2-1 this season with recent wins over Gulfport, Mississippi (32-0) and Panama City-Bay (38-7) which was a district game.
"We threw like probably five passes against Bay so I didn't get any catches," Norris said. "On defense I probably have close to 20 tackles. I play defensive line. I have a few sacks, probably three or four sacks."
