Florida State is putting together quite the offensive skill group in the 2025 cycle.

The newest addition is a big one in the form of Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy four-star wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon.

McCutcheon is the No. 77 overall prospect in the Rivals250 rankings. He chose Florida State over USC, Texas, SMU, and Ohio State.

The last two months have been busy for McCutcheon who took five official visits to each of his finalists.

"Being able to experience all the hospitality, to sit down with all of the coaches and be around the players and learn the cultures, I enjoyed my time in June going on all these official visits," he told Rivals.

"To be honest, all of these schools jumped into my top five and helped me see where I plan to commit," he added.

The Seminoles winning this race is not a surprise though for many. McCutcheon has been high on Florida State, just as he was high on nearly all of his contenders through the past few months.

"They see me doing things, being inside and the outside guy, motioning across the field, running crossers and go-routes," McCutcheon told Rivals. "That's what I like to hear."

"I fit in really well over there," added McCutcheon. "I was able to click with Ja'Kai and Hykeem. Click with them and I really enjoyed it a lot."

McCutcheon also has a key family connection to the state of Florida. He says that aspect has played a small smart in the process.

"I wouldn’t say it makes it easier since Tallahassee is far from Fort Lauderdale, where my family is from, but that aspect, being in Florida, definitely helps because more family is able to come to games and be able to support me,” McCutcheon said

What Florida State is getting in McCutcheon

McCutcheon has become known for being a silky smooth playmaker, able to play any wide receiver position on the field. Excels on the outside, where he loves to get vertical and attack downfield. His skillset is very dangerous in the slot, where is able to use space and find potential mismatches in the defense.

A crafty route runner, McCutcheon creates seperation at the line simply with his feet and agility. He then is able to use his speed to get further down the field. McCutcheon may also have a claim as one of the best pure ball trackers in this class. HIs ability to adjust and play the ball while keeping himself in favorable position is a massive skill of his moving forward.

The hands on McCutcheon are also elite. He often catches away from his body and quickly secures it to continue making a play. He will also show off acrobatic and one handed catches that most wideouts would not have a chance at. Yards after catch is also going to be one of the biggest attributes of McCutcheon's game. His ability to separate and navigate through traffic as smoothly as he does bodes well for his future.
