Florida State verbal flirting with others

Jacob McCrary, wide receiver from Coral Reef High School in Miami, Fla., committed to Florida State in July. The recruitment for the 2014 prospect is starting to heat up with a couple of recent scholarship offers.

"I was offered a few days ago by Alabama and Notre Dame," said McCrary. "I am going to flirt with a lot more schools. I am going to take some visits. I love Florida State though. I really like what they have going on down there.
"My early commitment came because the second time I visited I fell in love. I love how coach Jimbo Fisher and the other coaches gave me a great vibe. I felt like this is home. They have a great program building up. They are going to be one of the top teams in college football in the next few years."
McCrary talked of his scholarship offers from the long-standing programs known for tradition.
"The two new offers are great," he said. "It's great to get offers from two tradition rich programs like Alabama and Notre Dame. I talked to coach Stoutland from Alabama. He told me he has been waiting on me to call him.
"He said coach Saban had watched my film. He told me to call back. I attended Alabama's camp in June. I met some of the coaches. They liked me a lot. I am guessing they saw a good visual of me and then saw my film. They saw how good I was and offered me.
"I like coach Saban. They have great academics. I am a kid who wants academics first. Football isn't going to last forever. They are building a great program. Coach Saban brings in great players year in and year out. It's a great school to go to for three or four years.
McCrary has yet to speak with anyone from Notre Dame, but he knows a little about the program.
"My coach told me about the offer," he said. "I haven't talked to anyone from Notre Dame though. I have never visited them. I really don't know a lot about them.
"I know they have great tradition. I can't really say much else. I am pretty sure they have great academics. I know they are building a great team. I saw their recruiting class is in the top 10. They are doing something right."
McCrary will visit other schools this fall.
"Clemson, Florida and Kansas State are still recruiting me," he said. "Clemson and Kansas State were early offers. Florida is a great school. I have a real good connection with the coaches. I will visit Clemson, Florida State and Florida in the fall."
