What had been rumored for some time finally became a reality on Friday, as multiple reports indicate that Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher is stepping away from the program after eight seasons, three ACC titles and a national championship. With Florida State now in the coaching market, FSU commits and targets spent Friday weighed in on Fisher’s decision the Seminoles’ situation via tweet and text.

"I wish the best for him and his family but it's still ‘Nole nation for me." – FSU commit Asante Samuel via text message

"I feel like it’s unfortunate he's leaving because our class was looking to build something special. We were confused when we saw that he was leaving and were all cloudy and rethinking where we want to go play." – FSU commit Amari Gainer via text message

"I'm open to everybody so yes I will (still) give them a look (with the new staff)" -- former FSU commit Houston Griffith via text

"It's heavy for my recruitment seeing how I was going to commit to them soon but wanted to make sure I was making the best choice possible. I still have the same love for FSU and see what happens with the new coach coming in." – FSU target Dennis Briggs via text

“I obviously hate it that coach Fisher left because I had a relationship with him. I’m still committed to FSU, but as far as my future, that is something I’ll have to talk with my family about.” - FSU commit Christian Armstrong via text

“I think it’s just another opportunity for a coach to do better for himself and his family. I committed to the logo, not a coach. No point in me getting mad that he’s leaving — another coach will just have to step up and help continue FSU’s legacy.” - FSU commit Kenyatta Watson via text

"I feel as if coach Fisher did what he needed to do. He did what he thought was best for him, his family, and possibly his future. It is tough to see him go. It kind of does mess it up, but that may come around another day. I️ have to see how everything else goes." - FSU commit Christian Meadows via text
