Florida State first to offer Georgia athlete

HOMERVILLE, Ga. — With a population of just under 2,500, you would not expect Homerville to produce the level of Division 1 football talent that it produces.

Clinch County in a winning football program and they win not only with great coaching, but also great talent.

Their top name this cycle is Trezman Marshall, a Rivasl250 athlete who is committed to Georgia. They sent John Mincey to Tennessee and Charles McClelland to Cincinnati in February and both are making an impact this fall as freshmen. That just continue to push out talent and next up could be 2021 athlete Tyler Morehead.

Florida State extended an offer to Morehead recently and the Seminoles have the sophomore’s attention.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

“It was a big surprise when I found out about the offer,” said Morehead. “It was really a blessing. It is a great school and they have a great atmosphere, so I am really interested in them.

“I talked to coach Woodie and he is the one who offered me. He told me that they liked my film and wanted to offer. Hearing that news was great.

“I took a visit down there over the summer and I hung out with Tamorrion Terry. I got to look around, see the what the atmosphere was like and I liked it. Florida State is known as a great program, so it feels great to get that offer.

“I was there Saturday and I liked it. The campus is really nice and the atmosphere is lit. Overall, it is a nice place.”

RIVALS REACTION

This is the first of many offers for Morehead. He plays quarterback now, but projects as a running back on the next level. He is quick, shifty and tough. He also plays defensive back, so he is viewed as an athlete. He grew up a Georgia fan and he camped in Athens over the summer. It is too early for Morehead to have favorites he said, but Florida State offering first stands out to him.
