Florida sleeper picks up first offers

Naples, Fla. is home to one of the nation’ top prospects in Spencer Adkins, but what many may not know is that Cory Hogue, the linebacker who plays alongside Adkins has also picked up several Division I scholarship offers.
“I have offers right now from Eastern Michigan, Troy State, Ball State and Massachusetts,” Hogue said. “I’m also hearing a lot from Iowa State, East Carolina, Connecticut, Kansas State and Central Florida. East Carolina told me that they wanted me in camp, but it was too far for me to make it. Iowa State has been sending me a lot of handwritten letters.”

The 6-foot-0, 204-pound Hogue runs the 40-yard dash in 4.81 seconds, has 300-pound bench press and 425-pound squat.
“Right now the schools at the top of my list are all the ones that have offered, plus East Carolina, Kansas State, Iowa State and Central Florida,” Hogue said. “East Carolina is really nice and I like Troy State and Ball State a lot too. Those would probably be my top three right now.”
Hogue helped lead Naples to a 13-2 record and the state runner-up trophy. In the process, he tied the school record with 127 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, nine sacks and four interceptions.
“I’m looking for a school that can offer me early playing time, that is my main thing right now,” Hogue said. “Distance is somewhat of a factor, because I would like to stay kind of close to home. Close enough where my parents could come and see me play. How I feel with the coaches will be important also, I want to have a good relationship with them.”
He attended the NIKE camp in Miami where he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.81 seconds, had a 4.13 second shuttle, posted a 27-inch vertical jump and did 22 reps on the bench press.
