Florida sleeper has offers

Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines outside linebacker Charles Owens is player that has flow somewhat under the radar this recruiting season, but with the season underway people are beginning to take notice of his abilities.
“I have been offered by Louisville and North Carolina,” Owens said. “Florida, Miami and Indiana are all recruiting me very hard. I get handwritten letters and catalogs and stuff from them a lot.”

The 6-foot-1, 218-pound Owens runs the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds and plays defensive end for his high school team, but projects as a linebacker in college.
“I love to lock down the outside from teams, I just don’t ever stop,” Owens said. “I am looking to have a great year. I would have had more tackles last year, but teams just do not run to my side.”
As a junior he collected 110 tackles, seven sacks, 12 tackles for loss, forced eight fumbles and recovered four of them.
“My top schools are Florida State, Florida, North Carolina, Louisville, Ole Miss and LSU,” Owens said. “I’m hearing from a bunch of other schools like Alabama, Boston College, South Carolina, Syracuse and Central Florida.”
Owens is also a solid academic student who is already qualified by most schools standards with a 2.4 GPA and has scored a 17 on ACT.
