Florida safety shines as a junior

This past season, Winter Springs, Florida safety/wide receiver Cameron Thompkins got his first start on varsity and made the most of it. Despite a sprained ankle, Thompkins had three interceptions and 10 pass breakups while sharing duties on offense.
Now, college interest is coming from schools such as Iowa, Florida, Rutgers, Louisville, and Central Florida. One school is at the top of his list and Thompkins says he's waiting on.

"Mainly, Georgia is the top one right now," Thompkins said. "But, I can adjust to whoever sends me some offers. I just like that program and the way they run their defense. It just suits me."
Thompkins will be taking in some camps this summer including an in-state camp in Gainesville, Florida. He'll use that trip to check out a school.
"After that, I'm going to the Florida spring game," Thompkins said. "As for college camps, I'm just not sure yet. I haven't figured that out."
This year, Thompkins is looking to shatter his stats on defense and make a bigger impact with the ball in his hand.
"I'm looking forward to more time on defense and just handling the ball on offense," he said. "Basically, I'm trying to get some scores. To be honest, I prefer safety over receiver. I can see the whole field and I like to hit people."
"I'm going to refine my game and get better out there at that spot."
