Florida RB weighing options

Auburndale (Fla.) running back Chub Small capped his prep career with a senior season which saw him rush for 1,600 yards and 22 touchdowns and total more than 2,000 all-purpose yards.
So where’s the next stop for the talented back?

“He has offers from Kansas, Cincinnati and South Florida,” said Auburndale coach Bob Williams, “and he’s getting a lot of interest from schools like N.C. State, Iowa State, Louisville, Iowa and Michigan.
“He’s trying to decide where to visit right now. I think he’d prefer to stay close to home or at least in the Southeast if possible.”
Small (5-9, 190, 4.4) is short in stature, but packs a punch into his powerful frame. He boasts strength levels that include a 335 bench press and a 500 squat.
“He’s an explosive kid,” Williams said. “He’s a power back, but he’s got legit speed. He’s a 4.4-flat kid and a 10.6 guy in the 100-meter. He can run between the tackles or bounce it outside. He’ll run over you or make you miss. And he’s got great hands out of the backfield. He had about 200 yards receiving for us this year, and it could have been more but he split a lot of time in the backfield.
“As good as he is on the field, he’s even better off it. He’s a great kid with tremendous character and work ethic.”
Academically, he maintains a 2.3 GPA and has scored a 16 on the ACT. He needs a few more points in either to get fully eligible, but Williams says that shouldn’t be a problem.
Small was selected to play in the Cal-Florida Bowl.
