Florida RB remains patient

Ocala (Fla.) Forest running back Roosevelt Ross had an impressive showing at the Miami NIKE camp in April and in his first game of his senior season had a spectacular performance.
“I still do not have any offers yet, but I am getting stuff from Southern Miss, Auburn, Miami and Tennessee a lot,” Ross said. “I have not made the score on the ACT that I need yet and several schools have told me that they really want me to do well on that. Auburn has been recruiting me really hard.”

The 5-foot-10, 196-pound Ross showed out at the Miami NIKE camp when he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.53 seconds, the shuttle in 4.28 seconds, had a 31-inch vertical jump and did 15 reps on the bench press.
“My top schools are Auburn, Southern Miss, Tennessee and Carson-Newman,” Ross said. “Carson-Newman has been recruiting me really hard and there is early playing time there. I went to Auburn’s camp in July and talked to (offensive coordinator) coach (Al) Borges and he said that they would put me on their list of players to watch. He said he really liked what I did at the camp and would call me when they could again.”
In a game Friday night Roosevelt went out and showed that he could hang with the best backs in Florida. He carried the ball 13 times for 159 yards and two touchdowns.
“I want to take all of my official visits before I decide, but I don’t really want to wait until February either,” Ross said. “If you wait too long then everyone could be filled up. I would say Auburn is No. 1 right now on my list, but I am just trying to stay open and see what each school has to offer.”
