The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Brown has received a written offer from defending Sugar Bowl champion West Virginia.
"I was real excited," Brown said. "I thought it was good (picking up an offer from the Mountaineers)."
Brown says WVU is recruiting him as a running back.
Another program, which ironically is just up the road from Morgantown, sits on top Brown's list at the moment.
"Pittsburgh is my No. 1 school," he said. "When (Panthers head coach Dave Wannstedt was down here (Royal Palm Beach is near Miami) with the Dolphins, I thought he was a real cool coach."
Brown will visit Miami (Fla.) and Florida State unofficially for both school's junior days. He has been invited to junior day events at Alabama and Auburn as well.
"I don't know if I will be able to make it to those," he said.
The Crimson Tide and Tigers, along with Georgia Tech, Minnesota, Miami and Notre Dame, round out Brown's list.
"Some have very good programs," Brown said. "And others are on the rise like Alabama and Georgia Tech."
Brown rushed for 640 yards and eight touchdowns his junior season. He shares backfield duties with Brandon Pendergrass, another Division I-A prospect.
Brown plans to attend the Miami NIKE Camp April 9 on the campus of the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla.
