Gross has reeled in his first three scholarship offers.
"I've got offers from Georgia, Clemson and
Vanderbilt," said the 6-foot, 195-pound running back, a member of the Rivals.com
Florida
Top 100 team. "I've had a great start to this season, too, so
I'm kind of expecting some more to be coming along."
Gross has rushed for almost 700 yards and 12
touchdowns through Suwannee's first five games. He's coming off a 309-yard,
six-touchdown performance in his last game. He's nearly eclipsed all of the
numbers from his junior year, when he rushed for 881 yards and 11
touchdowns.
In addition to three schools which have offers,
Gross has received calls from Florida State and N.C. State in the last two
weeks.
"Florida State has always been my favorite team
since I was a little kid," he said. "If they offered me a scholarship, it
would be hard to turn down. I don't think I could.
"Georgia is probably closest to them. I have them
No. 2 right now. I've followed them a little bit, especially the last two
years. I like their coach (former FSU assistant Mark Richt) a lot. He's got
their program looking good right now. They're undefeated right now and have
a chance to win the national championship.
"Florida and Miami would be my No. 3 and 4 teams
right now. I like them because they've got great tradition, too, and like
Florida State, it's my home state and I know a lot of players at those
schools."
Gross said he's keeping his fifth spot open at the
time to see what other programs may get involved with his recruitment. He's
visited Florida State and Florida for game this season, but has not set any
other dates.
