Florida QB heard from Auburn

One of the top sleeper picks at quarterback in the Southeast is Blake Field of Tallahassee (Fla.) North Florida Christian and it looks like during the September calling period he’s still flying a little bit under the radar screen.
“I’ve only received one call from coach (Steve) Ensminger at Auburn,” Field, a two-star quarterback that is 6-foot-3 and 195 pounds. “They offered me a while back and he just was calling and talking to me about how my week went and how things are going for me this season.

“He told me he wasn’t going to push me to commit or anything since he knows that I wanted to wait until my season is over to take some visits and trips.”
But still with more than 3,330 career yards passing and a solid start to 2003 already on the books, it’s still a little surprising Field hasn’t gotten more love from the college coaches, or is it?
“I’m not surprised,” Field, who moved to Tallahassee from Cairo this year, said. “When I was at Cairo, I didn’t have any receivers. Well, I had receivers, but nobody that could catch the ball. And we’ve been running the ball quite a bit here this season, so it really doesn’t surprise me.”
Field said he’s also still looking hard at East Carolina, but the Pirates haven’t called or written him in a while. Florida State and Vanderbilt are also somewhat interested, he said.
