Carlton Medder recently named Tennessee and Georgia as the
leaders in his recruitment, but is quick to note that depends on another
possible development.
"Florida State is my favorite school," said the
6-foot-4, 327-pound offensive tackle, a member of the Rivals.com
Florida
Top 100 team. "I've been a fan of all the Florida teams
growing up, especially them. I haven't got a scholarship offered to me yet,
but they've been calling a lot lately and we sent them some film to look at
from our first four or five games. I think they're going to like it."
Medder reportedly has offers from Georgia,
Tennessee, Maryland, Central Florida and Wake Forest. He's also receiving
attention from Clemson, Florida and North Carolina in addition to the
Seminoles.
"The most interest is coming from Tennessee and UCF,"
he said. "I like Tennessee a whole lot. I was up there for the Florida game,
and I'm trying to go to their game against Georgia this weekend. Coach
(Jimmy Ray) Stephens is recruiting me. I like him a lot. They have great
tradition and send a lot of players on to the next level, which is something
I'm trying to do. They also have the best facilities and a lot of enthusiasm
in that huge stadium."
Medder said Mike Bobo is recruiting him from
Georgia. "He's pretty cool, and their program is a lot like Tennessee's.
They're both great programs. Anyone would like to play for those schools.
The only thing different about them and Florida State is this is my home,
and I've been a fan."
Medder has one official visit scheduled so far, a
Dec. 13 trip to Maryland. He said Florida State, Tennessee and Georgia would
get the next three. "The last one, that's a mystery. Maybe Miami."
