Florida offering Wilcoxson is like a dream come true

THE LATEST: Florida has been very active in Georgia since Dan Mullen took over as the new coach for the Gators and they did not waste any time before jumping on one of the top 2021 prospect. Kamar Wilcoxson is a 6-foot-2, 185 pound freshman at Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson and he found out Saturday that he received an offer from Florida. It is his first offer and it came from the school he has grown up cheering for.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "I have been liking Florida ever since I was eight years old," said Wilcoxson. "I started liking the Gators because me and my park ball quarterback were close and we would always hang out and watch the them play.

"Then when Tim Tebow came around I knew they where my favorite team because I never missed a game. A couple of years after that, Vernon Hargreaves came around and I try to model my game after him and Jalen Ramsey.

"Getting the offer from Florida means a lot to me with it being my dream school. I like them a lot, but I don’t want to make a decision too early. I’m going to wait and make a decision later in the process when I feel it's the right time."

RIVALS REACTION: Words likely cannot explain how excited Wilcoxson was when he got the word from his coach that Florida had offered him. He has been a big Gator fan for many years, so this is big for him on multiple levels. Wilcoxson could have a big spring and summer as more schools get to see him in action. He has a great frame for a defensive back and he will add more offers in the near future. Florida being the first to offer combined with the Gators being his childhood favorite could carry a lot of weight down the road, so he is one to know and follow.
