Florida LB staying close to home

A member of Miami (Fla.) Carol City’s dominating defense is following his grandfather’s footsteps to college, and will be considered quite a steal for his future school.
“Vernon has committed to Florida A&M,” said the father of three-star linebacker Vernon Wilder. “His grandfather was an All-American there, and he felt like he could go there and have an immediate impact.

"He likes that they’re moving up to D-I and the direction their program is headed. Plus, he gets to stay close to home. It was a good fit for him."
Wilder (6-0, 243, 4.65) also had offers from Kansas, Mississippi State, Rutgers and Wake Forest, among others.
As a senior, he recorded 140 tackles, 20 tackles for loss and five sacks.
