Florida LB ready for visits

Rockledge, Fla., inside linebacker Johnny Holmes is a physically impressive prospect with a load of talent. However, he has not received the amount of attention that some of the other big time linebackers in the South have, mostly due to qualifying issues. That has not stopped some big schools from pursuing him though.
"I have an official visit set up to West Virginia on January 14 and one to January 21 to Western Kentucky," Holmes said. "I may not sign on signing day, I'm just not real sure at this point. I may not take my official visit to South Florida until after signing day. I have not decided on that visit at this point, I am still open for January 28 so there could be a visit that I could take there."

The 6-foot-2, 213-pound Holmes attended the Miami NIKE camp where he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.75 seconds, the shuttle in 4.5 seconds and posted a 29-inch vertical jump. He boasts a 265-pound bench press and 400-pound squat.
"I have written offers from West Virginia, Western Kentucky, South Florida and Marshall," Holmes said. "Kentucky is recruiting my pretty hard too, but they have not given me a written offer yet. I am not looking to make a quick decision, I just need to get everything taken care of and then make a decision."
Holmes earned honorable mention honors the past two seasons after racking up 112 solo tackles, 95 assists, 14 sacks, 36 tackles for a loss and seven fumble recoveries as a junior.
