Florida LB picking up major offers

Jamar Chaney's name has not been mentioned prominently this recruiting season, but the of Fort Pierce (Fla.) Saint Lucie West Centennial linebacker recently picked up offers that should cause many to take notice.
“I have offers from West Virginia, Georgia, Maryland, Iowa, Florida Atlantic and NC State,” Chaney said. “Georgia offered me first I think it was and then I went up to their four day camp a couple of weeks ago. I really liked hanging out up there, it was a good experience.”

Chaney is a 6-foot-0, 216-pound bruising linebacker that ran the 40-yard dash in 4.63 seconds and the shuttle in 4.28 seconds at the Miami NIKE camp.
“I went to Georgia’s camp, but I also went to Florida Atlantics camp,” Chaney said. “I am going back to camp at Georgia for their mini camp on July 10-11. Other than that I don’t know if I’m going to any others.”
He has a 285-pound bench press max and a 605-pound squat max. He did 15 reps on the bench press and has a 33-inch vertical jump.
“I’m looking for a school with good academics and a good football program,” Chaney said. “I want to be a marketing major, so I am going to look for a school that offers that program. I am also going to look at the dorms and stuff because I will have to live there at least my first year.”
He had 120 tackles, 22 for losses, with six sacks and an interception last season as a junior. He also earned defensive player of the year honors on his team as a junior.
“I don’t have a leader right now, but my top schools are Georgia, Miami, Florida State, LSU and NC State,” Chaney said. “I grew up a Miami and Florida State fan, but I’m not hearing all that much from Florida State. Miami is sending me handwritten letters and stuff, but they still haven’t offered.”
