Position: Outside Linebacker
Size and speed: Gallon is 6-foot-1, weighs 210 pounds and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds. He also boasts a 340-pound bench press and a 485 squat.
Statistics: As a junior, he recorded more than 100 tackles and five sacks.
Favorite Schools: Florida State, Auburn, Florida, Miami, LSU.
Skinny: Rodney Gallon was overshadowed by Lincoln teammate and fellow linebacker Jeffery Williams as a junior, but next season figures to be his turn to shine.
Gallon quietly recorded more than 100 tackles last year, but it’s his raw physical tools that has college scouts so excited.
“He’s a kid that you look at and say, ‘Wow,’” Lincoln coach David Wilson said. “He’s a real good looking kid. He can run, and when he gets to the ball, he punishes you. He’s got real good instincts and a nose for the ball. He’s a sideline-to-sideline kid. He also reads well and is good in coverage. He does a good job blitzing. Best of all, he’s got a motor that doesn’t stop.
“Along with Calvin (Darity) he should be one of our big-time national recruits next year.”
Gallon has received scholarship offers from Florida State and Auburn. Florida, Miami and LSU are among other teams showing high interest. Wilson declined to speculate on favorites, but said the Seminoles would likely be a factor.
He has an invitation to attend the Nike combine at Gainesville. His summer camp plans are still incomplete.
