Bynes said he spoke with new Rebels assistant Art Kehoe, who extended the offer.
"They told me they were going to come after me no matter what," Bynes said. "They were telling me it was a good program."
Bynes has taken note of Ole Miss snagging a former star from his area, quarterback Brent Schaeffer of Deerfield Beach, Fla., in last year's class.
"I know they didn't have a great year last year," Bynes said. "But I know they just recruited Schaeffer and I think that they are going to be pretty good this year with him at quarterback."
The Rebels are the second school to offer Bynes, who racked up 147 tackles as a junior. He projects as a middle linebacker.
Miami (Fla.), Florida State, Florida, Pittsburgh, Iowa and LSU also are schools that have been showing interest in Bynes.
Bynes will be at the Miami NIKE Camp on April 9 in Coral Gables, Fla.
