Florida DT is Big Ten bound

Miami Country Day School three-star defensive tackle Eriks Briedis has plenty to celebrate.
Not only is today is birthday, but the 6-foot-5, 263-pound three-star defensive tackle has made a big decision for his future.
"I'm a Badger," Briedis said. "I'm out celebrating with my family and friends tonight, but I am definitely committed now to Wisconsin. We're all very excited. I'm pumped."
Briedis originally committed to UConn after taking an official visit in early November. However, Wisconsin ace recruiter Dave Doeren kept recruiting Briedis and his effort paid off with a commitment after an official visit to Madison this past weekend.
"I can't say enough about coach Doeren. He's so personable and great to get along with."
Briedis had 88 tackles, 4.5 sacks, three caused fumbles and one recovery as a senior. At fullback, he had four carries for 25 yards along with two catches for 18 yards. He earned all-area and all-metro honors for his efforts.
He said calling UConn and telling them he was switching was really tough, but something he had to do.
"I still love them, the coaching staff and what they're doing, but I just felt Wisconsin was the best place for me to develop academically, athletically and socially," he said.
"It was a very tough decision. I sat down with my family, and I just realized that this was a decision that's going to affect me for the rest of my life. It's beyond just the four or five years I'll be there."
